As we start to heat up the 2022 recruiting season let's look position by position where we stand. We'll start off with the quarterback position with Bazelak, Cook, and Mason all on hand.
Coach Drink has already improved the position and now will attempt to add to it, probably one in this cycle. Mizzou offered 11 players and Quinn Ewers has already verbally commited to Ohio State.
Of the remaining 10, Maalik Murphy, Cade Klubnik, Gunner Stockton, Ty Simpson, and Connor Weigman all seem doubtful if not entirely out.
Now we're down to five, MJ Morris has some interest but it will be hard to pull him from Georgia and he has openly campaigned for a Clemson offer.
Gavin Wimsatt is a Notre Dame target and is being chased by home state Kentucky. His final 7 will be coming out soon and I expect Mizzou to be on that list. After that it's up to some Drink magic.
Sam Horn has made no secret of his interest in Missouri or his fondness for Drink. Both parents went to Tennessee so we'll know as time goes by.
Tayven Jackson maybe the most intriguing prospect compared to Patrick Mahomes. He is enamored with Ohio State but the Buckeyes have not offered him thus far.
Finally we have Kaden Cobb, a lefty, who is interested in Northwestern but they have not offered yet.
Bottom line if we could get Jackson, Wimsatt, Horn, or Cobb it would be a homerun. With three good, very young quarterbacks it is not a position of need but it would be nice to continue to build on the postion.
